From a functional perspective, specific operational spaces of the apartment gained importance, and the nonfunctional areas were excluded as unfavorable parts. That was the logical result of the incomplete relation between the origination of apartment lifestyle in Iran and modern architecture. But on the other hand, those excluded parts of the house/apartment were so vital for family gatherings and socialization. Without any doubt, regenerating the heart of the house depends on restoring those so-called unnecessary spaces.

در نسبتی ناقص میان پیدایش آپارتمان در ایران و معماری مدرن و تحت تأثیر نگاهی عملکردمحور، تنها فضاهایی در سازمان فضایی آپارتمان اهمیت پیدا کردند که عملکردی مشخص در خانه‌ها داشتند و فضاهایی که عملکرد مشخصی نداشتند، اما در حفظ کانون خانواده و در روابط انسانی درون خانه بسیار مؤثر بودند نیز حذف شدند. بدون شک، احیای قلب خانه منوط به بازشناسی و اهمیت‌دادن به چنین فضاهایی است.
