نگاه تک‌ساحتی به موضوع توسعه، ندیدن ظرفیت‌ها به پشتوانۀ پول، تکنولوژی و جهل در مدیریت، رعایت نکردن قوانین و توجه صرف معماران و شهرسازان به کالبد شهر، تنها بخشی از مشکلاتی است که کلان‌شهرهای ایران با آن روبه‌رو هستند. در دورانی که سرمایه‌داریِ غیرعقلایی بی‌قانون بر کشور ما حاکم است، مدنیت تنها می‌تواند تکرار یک واژه باشد، نه چیزی بیش از آن.
