A hypermarket for window-shopping; Ferdowsi Hypermarket, the first shopping-center in Iran

December 1957 the first modern shopping-center of Iran was inaugurated by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (the Shah) and that was the beginning of the government’s construction project of shopping-centers in Iran. Ferdowsi shopping-center was constantly full of brand-new products, copying with the style of world’s supermarkets. That cultural assimilation was the blind spot and enough reason to consider Ferdowsi Hypermarket just as a place for windows-shopping!

در آذرماه سال 36 اولین فروشگاه مدرن ایران، توسط محمدرضا شاه افتتاح شد و به‌این‌ترتیب دولت به جریان فروشگاه‌سازی ورود کرد. فروشگاه فردوسی پر بود از اولین‌ها؛ آن‌هم به سبک مغازه‌های بزرگ جهانی. همین دلیل کافی بود تا برای مدت‌ها بیشتر محلی برای تماشا باشد.
